Kahverengi Alüminyum Oksit, iyi tokluk, yüksek mekanik direnç ve sertlik (Mohs ölçeğinde 9) ile karakterize edilir. Malzemenin mikro sertliği yaklaşık 1900 kG/mm 2’ye ulaşır . Özgül ağırlık (yoğunluk) 3,90+/-0,05 g/cm 3’e eşittir . Boyuta bağlı olarak yığın yoğunluğu 1,52-1,87 g/cm 3’e eşittir . Nispeten yüksek termal iletkenliğe ve düşük termal genleşmeye sahiptir. Elektrik açısından bir yalıtkandır.
